In Tuy, Batangas, two men are accused of killing his coworker and disposing of his body by the side of the road.
According to preliminary investigation, early on Monday morning in Sitio De Guzman, Barangay Sabang, a passing vehicle discovered a man’s body with his head wrapped in a sack.
The victim was identified as Rex, a 44-year-old worker at a nearby warehouse.
The two suspects were the victim’s coworkers, and they were taken into custody right away.
One suspect allegedly struck the victim during the investigation after accusing him of telling their employer about the incident, which resulted in one of their coworkers being fired.
Before their coworkers heard gunshots, another suspect assisted in beating the victim.
According to reports, the accused intimidated witnesses into not telling the police about the occurrence.
Before disposing of the victim’s body on the side of the road, the suspects allegedly gave the witnesses instructions to load it onto a motorcycle.
A case is being prepared against the two suspects, who are now being held at the Tuy police custody facility.
According to authorities, evidence gathered at the scene and statements from witnesses led investigators to focus on the two coworkers. Surveillance footage, digital records, and forensic findings are currently being reviewed to establish a clear timeline of events.
Both suspects are reportedly in police custody for questioning, though formal charges have yet to be announced. Officials stressed that the suspects are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
The case has raised renewed concerns over the safety of prosecutors and legal professionals, particularly those handling sensitive or high-profile cases. Legal groups have called for stronger protective measures for members of the justice system.
Authorities said they expect to file appropriate charges once the investigation is complete and sufficient evidence is established. An autopsy has been scheduled to determine the exact cause of death.
Police urged the public to avoid speculation and allow the investigation to proceed, assuring that updates will be released as more verified information becomes available.
