Because the houses were constructed closely together and primarily of light materials, the fire spread swiftly.

The pet owners thanked firefighters for saving a number of their animals from the burning houses.

According to a report from the Davao Bureau of incident Protection, the incident affected about 500 people, or 75 families.

Fifteen dwellings were partially damaged and fifty were completely ruined, according to the BFP.

The cause and origin of the fire are still being looked into by firefighters.

In order to receive assistance in their recovery from the awful event, some of the fire victims are in evacuation centers.

According to initial accounts circulating on social media and local community posts, fire crews responded swiftly to a blaze that broke out in a densely populated residential area, where roughly 65 homes were reportedly affected by the flames. Community footage and fire response teams showed firefighters battling heavy smoke while evacuating families and retrieving pets from the blaze.

In one widely shared clip, firefighters from Metro Davao United Fire and Rescue were seen carrying a dog to safety after entering a burning property — one of several efforts to save animals alongside human residents during the emergency response.

Local animal lovers have since rallied on social media to raise awareness about pets that were rescued or are missing after the fire, underscoring how far community support has played a role in helping displaced families and their animals.

While official figures for the number of animals rescued have not yet been released by public authorities, previous Davao City animal welfare data shows that community groups and the City Veterinarian’s Office often work together on pet welfare and rescue operations amid disasters.

At the time of reporting, city emergency personnel were still determining the complete amount of the property and home damage. After investigations are finished, the Bureau of incident Protection and local disaster authorities are anticipated to confirm the number of properties affected and offer a comprehensive update on the cause of the incident.

Local government agencies and community organizations are organizing relief aid for displaced people, including providing temporary lodging to evacuated families.
