RAMON, Isabela — On Monday morning, February 23, a newborn baby was found abandoned beside a creek in Ramon, Isabela.

The basin was initially spotted sitting on the concrete barrier by a local who was strolling by the Macaniao Creek area of Barangay Ambatali, according to the Ramon Police.

He found a baby boy wrapped in a black pillowcase when he looked inside.

He informed the barangay official of the situation right away, and the official then contacted the police.

The baby’s umbilical cord is still attached, giving the impression that it is a newborn.

At first, the infant was turned over to the Rural Health Unit for medical care.

The parents and the individual who abandoned the infant are being sought by the police.

A concerned citizen who was passing by Macaniao Creek spotted a plastic basin resting on a concrete ledge near the water’s edge. Upon closer inspection, the resident discovered the baby wrapped in a black pillowcase, still with his umbilical cord attached.

The local resident immediately notified barangay officials, who in turn alerted the Philippine National Police (PNP). Responding officers secured the scene and ensured the infant’s safety.

The baby was promptly brought to the Ramon Rural Health Unit Birthing Center, where he is receiving medical attention while authorities investigate the case and determine his next steps.

Police have urged members of the public to come forward with any information that could help identify the person or persons responsible for leaving the newborn by the creek, as they continue their investigation.

Once formal procedures are in place, the kid is expected to be taken into custody by the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD). Authorities are also expected to investigate whether any surveillance footage from surrounding homes or businesses can provide insight into the occurrence.
