6 people are hurt when an LPG tanker explodes in Navotas

An LPG tank exploded at Blk 33 Matambaka Street in Barangay NBBS, Navotas City, after 9 a.m., according to CCTV footage. on February 25, a Wednesday.

Children were playing on the street when the explosion happened, according to CCTV evidence. The incident resulted in six injuries.

As stated by Angel Sta. Rosa’s relatives were preparing maize to sell when the explosion happened, and she was inside their leased home.

His mother-in-law was burned along with her two kids.

Additionally, two of their visitors who were inside the house at the time of the explosion suffered burns.

One of their neighbors sustained a forehead wound.

“This just happened to us… This is the first time this has happened to us… We didn’t expect it to actually happen,” added Sta. Rosa.

Danilo Payag, a neighbor, claims that they were asleep at the time of the incident.

“Bigla pong may dumadagundong, ang lakas, tapos nagulat po ako ‘yung mga gamit namin tumilapon na po lahat. Tapos ‘yung mga halaman ko nalaglag na po diyan, nalaglagan ‘yung motor ko…. Akala ko may nag-aaway lang po eh tapos ngayon sumilip ako sa bintana. Pag dungaw ko po nakita ko po ‘yung babae na ‘yung damit warak-warak na po eh. Umuusok po yung ulo,” he said.

The head of the Navotas CDRRMO, Dr. Vonne Villanueva, claims that these kinds of tanks are not made for routine kitchen cooking.

They are not safe in enclosed spaces, he insisted.

The CDRRMO intends to work with the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) to closely monitor the sale and usage of the aforementioned tanks in light of the documented occurrences of similar events.

Villanueva further underlined the necessity of regulating these goods in order to stop mishaps in the future.

In the hospital, the victims are still recovering.
