
On January 22, 2026, screen veteran Raoul Aragon passed away in Downey, California. He was 78 years old.
His daughter Rica confirmed the heartbreaking news via media personality Laila Chikadora.
In an official statement, Aragon’s family wrote, “It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Raoul Aragon who left us peacefully on January 22, 2026, in Downey, California. He was 78 years old.”
Aragon, who starred alongside Lolita Rodriguez and Nora Aunor in Lino Brocka’s “Ina Ka ng Anak Mo” at the 1979 Metro Manila Film Festival, took home Best Actor. His performance as Tio Kadyo in the film “Pasan Ko Ang Daigdig” starring Sharon Cuneta also made him famous. Additionally, he starred in television series like “Aguila” with Val Sotto and films like “Working Girls” and “Waikiki.”
“He is survived by his devoted wife, Josie, and his children Zoilo, Nina, Rica, Jose, and Raul, along with their spouses. He also leaves behind his cherished grandchildren Zachary, Leila, Kimi, Mika, and Jada, who brought him so much pride and joy,” stated a statement.
“A loving husband, father, and grandfather, he will be remembered for his quiet strength, kindness, and unwavering dedication to his family. He lived a full life, guided by love, hard work, and deep care for those around him. His presence will forever be missed, but his values and memories will continue to live on in our hearts,” said the statement.
Aragon’s remains will be transported by air to the Philippines, where his family and friends will be able to come together to honor and celebrate his life at a formal viewing and memorial service.
Tributes poured in from fellow actors, directors, and fans expressing their condolences and celebrating Aragon’s legacy.
Fans recalled about his iconic performances and the influence he had on their love for Filipino movies, sharing significant messages and memories on social media.
The family has requested privacy during this difficult time but shared that a memorial service will be held next week at the Manila Memorial Park. Details regarding public viewing and funeral attendance will be announced soon.
