Marcos leads of the upgraded Antique Airport inauguration
MANILA — On Monday, President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. led at the inauguration of the upgraded Antique airport, which he claimed would achieve his administration’s objective of updating both domestic and international airports.
The President stated that the government is working to make travel quicker and easier for all Filipinos during his statement at the opening of the Antique Airport Development Projects.
According to the chief executive, Roxas Airport and Iloilo International Airport are also part of the airport modernization pipeline.
According to Malacañang, the Passenger Terminal Building was expanded from 181 square meters to 2,224 square meters, one of the major improvements made to the Antique Airport.
The expanded terminal will now accommodate around 360 passengers, up from the previous capacity of 64.
Additionally, the airport raised the control tower to seven storeys from three, “providing better visibility for safer and more efficient flight operations,” and increased the number of check-in counters from two to six.
The airport can now accommodate jet aircraft thanks to the runway expansion project, which extended the runway from 1,430 to 1,800 meters.
This provides a “significant boost” to Antique province’s aviation capacity, according to the President.
Sen. Loren Legarda believes that the Antique airport will serve as a “model for regional and national development.”
The Department of Transportation (DOTr) and the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) are in charge of the P1.576 billion projects.
Additionally, it was made feasible by the collaboration between the local and provincial governments of the province.
