Hollywood ex-couple Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban have reached a settlement and formally ended their 19-year marriage.
The Grammy-winning singer and the Oscar-winning actress apparently separated legally after living apart for quite a bit of time, according to U.S. media reports.
Three months after Kidman officially filed for divorce on January 6, citing irreconcilable differences, the ex-couple “entered into an agreement that was filed in court,” according to PEOPLE magazine.
Nicole and Keith agreed to forgo their rights to child and spousal support, according to documents the magazine was able to secure. Additionally, it was mentioned that each party will be in charge of their own legal expenses and fees.
The agreement requires that both parents must “behave with each other and each child so as to provide a loving, stable, consistent and nurturing relationship with the child even though they are divorced” with regard to their daughters, Sunday Rose, 17, and Faith Margaret, 15.
According to PEOPLE Magazine, the agreement stipulates that “They will not speak badly of each other or the members of the family of the other parent,” Major decisions pertaining to their daughters’ lives will be shared by both parents. “They will encourage each child to continue to love the other parent and be comfortable in both families.”
The magazine also stated that Nicole’s house will be the kids’ principal domicile, with Nicole getting 306 days of custody annually and Keith having 59 days, with every other weekend visitation.
Entertainment Tonight, meanwhile, revealed that a significant portion of the procedure had been resolved long before the documents were released to the public. According to reports, Nicole signed the settlement agreement in early September, Keith signed it in August, and the paperwork was formally filed on September 30. The site further stated that before the couple’s split was made public, all issues had already been settled.
Neither Nicole nor Keith have made an official announcement on the divorce as of this writing.
Nicole shared a picture that seemed to have been taken on New Year’s Eve on her Instagram Stories on January 2 to celebrate the start of the new year with her girls. The actress and her daughters were seen in the picture with their arms encircling one another from behind.
“Looking forward into 2026 xx,” Nicole captioned the picture.
Keith and Nicole were married on June 25, 2006, after meeting at a gala in January 2005.
Kidman previously said in a 2024 interview with PEOPLE that her family was her greatest source of support, enabling her to succeed on both a personal and professional level.
In the meanwhile, Keith revealed that he knew Nicole was “the one” as soon as they met during an appearance on the Armchair Expert podcast in September 2020.
