PARIS — The fourth season of the popular TV series “Bridgerton,” whose main narrative promises to be “Cinderella with a twist,” will premiere in Paris on Wednesday, according to actor Yerin Ha.
The steps and columns of the Palais Brongniart in central Paris were adorned in the colors of the show, and a promenade that resembled an English garden for the stars drew several hundred spectators.
The most recent episode centers on the rakish Benedict (Luke Thompson), the second son of the powerful Bridgerton family, who falls in love with the enigmatic Sophie Baek without realizing that, like Cinderella, she is a servant.
At the “Bridgerton” world premiere in Paris on Wednesday, the actress transformed into the iconic princess while wearing a mint-blue Prada gown.
Holly White, a stylist based in London and New York City, created Ha’s look, which combined romance and a contemporary edge with elements of whimsy, sparkle, and shine. The halter neckline and little cutout under the bustline of the sleeveless Prada dress were highlighted by shimmering crystal embellishments that also showed up on the straps.
“I’d say it’s a bit of Cinderella with a twist, and it’s not quite Cinderella. It’s a class struggle, forbidden love story,” Baek’s Australian-Korean actress Yerin Ha told AFP.
The season, which debuted on Netflix on January 29, explores a number of topics through its intrigues, including as relationships between aristocrats and slaves, rape, disabilities, and women’s sexual lives after menopause.
Katie Leung, best known for her portrayal of Cho Chang in the Harry Potter series, is Baek’s ruthless mistress and stepmother.
Since its debut in 2020, “Bridgerton” has continuously been one of Netflix’s most popular shows, maintaining positions in the worldwide Top 10 for weeks at a time.
It is based on American author Julia Quinn’s novels about high society in 19th-century London.
Seasons five and six have already been confirmed, so fans may look forward to them.
