Actress Karina Bautista said she considers being a hardworking college student to be one of her proud achievements, and she is glad to be an independent woman since she chose to relocate to Manila to live alone. In an interview with PUSH ABS-CBN, the former housemate of Pinoy Big Brother, who is now a member of the cast of the horror film Shake, Rattle & Roll: Evil Origins at the Metro Manila Film Festival, discussed the difficulties she has had juggling her career and schoolwork this year.
“I feel like my time management is kind of everywhere. Kasi I’m going to school and I’m working and I also live alone. I’m independently in my condo by myself so all the errands I do by myself as well. So medyo magulo talaga siya at times and I think that’s what causes my anxiety. Pero ngayon naman, medyo nakasanayan ko na siya and I’m able to delegate my time more smartly and more responsibly,” she said.
Karina stated that she has come to terms with the fact that she cannot have the same social life as her classmates, but that this is all part of her obligation to complete her education. “Finals pa naman namin this December so sabay sabay silang lahat. So I think it’s more of sacrifice. So I do sacrifice some of my social life and buti na lang my friends are really understanding. They’re very low-key, like I don’t have to update them. They know that I love them even though I don’t go out with them anymore and I don’t party. So I’m really just bahay, school, and work. Ganun,” she added.
The 23-year-old cast member of Shake, Rattle & Roll said that since joining the PBB house in 2018, she has matured significantly.
“As an actress siguro I’ve learned a lot and I’m very thankful for my journey because I feel like everything happened for a reason, all the opportunities I didn’t get before, I was able to do now. And mas nabigyan ko siyang hustisya so talagang right timing lahat ng nangyari. And as a person from being in a love team and then growing out of it, I’ve matured. You know I’ve been mature for a long time (laughs), since I started living alone. Pero I think mas nakilala ko yung sarili ko. I think that’s what’s important. nalaman ko kung ano yung core ko and hindi na ako easily swayed by other people’s opinions about me,” she clarified.
Karina shared on how she appreciates being a regular girl who likes to hang out with her friends when she’s not in front of the camera. “I think wala namang masyadong difference. Parang kalog pa rin naman ako in all areas. Sa school, I’m so happy I have also friends na hindi artista. So siyempre ibang dynamics din dun. I’m able to be more freely myself and also I’ve reconnected with my high school friends from the province and it feels so nice kasi they remind me of who I am before I got into showbiz. So iba iba talaga. I think my personality also shifts kung sino yung mga kasama ko, kung anong vibe nila, ganun,” she said.
