Palawan, which is renowned for its limestone cliffs and crystal-clear waters, was once again named one of the top travel destinations in the world.

Palawan is on Frommer’s “Best Places to Go in 2026” list, which has been selected by editors and contributors worldwide.

It joins places like the United States’ Chicago, Finland’s Oulu, Portugal’s Algarve, Australia’s Adelaide, Argentina’s Patagonia Azul, Austria’s Vienna, and Greece’s Costa Navarino.

The Frommer’s award serves as a reminder of the Philippines’ richer tourist narrative, according to Margarita Nograles, chief operating officer of the tourist Promotions Board (TPB). The TPB, an affiliated organization of the Department of Tourism, seeks to increase visitor arrivals, revenues, and investments in the country.

“When destinations like Palawan are celebrated, what the world is really seeing are the communities behind them; the stewards who protect every reef, forest, and shoreline,” Nograles stated in a press release.

“That’s what makes the Philippines special. Every traveler contributes to something lasting,” she stated.

Along with Boracay and Siargao, Palawan has recently received recognition as one of Conde Nast Traveler’s top Asian islands.

Numerous worldwide newspapers have referred to the tropical paradise as the “world’s best island” on multiple occasions.

Palawan is well-known for attractions like the Puerto Princesa Underground River and Calauit Safari in addition to its beaches and lagoons.

What This Recognition Means

  • The Department of Tourism (DOT) of the Philippines sees this as a major endorsement of Palawan’s balanced tourism model.
  • It reinforces Palawan’s standing not just as a paradise getaway, but as a responsible tourism destination.
  • For travelers, the inclusion is an invitation to explore Palawan in a way that respects its ecosystems and cultures.

Other Recent Accolades

  • On TripAdvisor, it’s been ranked among the top trending global destinations, praised for its breathtaking islands, marine life, and community experiences.
