The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) is closely monitoring two typhoons and a low-pressure area (LPA) that are currently outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR).
In the latest public weather forecast issued by PAGASA at 4:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 10, Weather Specialist Grace Castañeda provided an update. She mentioned that PAGASA is actively tracking Typhoon Koinu (formerly known as Typhoon Jenny), which is currently located 1,025 kilometers to the west of Extreme Northern Luzon, outside of PAR.
PAGASA is also closely monitoring a second typhoon with the international name “Bolaven.” As of the latest update, “Bolaven” was located approximately 2,385 kilometers east of Eastern Visayas, and PAGASA’s experts are keeping a watchful eye on its development and movement.
Simultaneously, PAGASA’s vigilant monitoring extends to a low-pressure area (LPA) located outside of the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR). The LPA’s last known position was approximately 1,170 kilometers east of Eastern Visayas. According to Weather Specialist Grace Castañeda, the likelihood of this LPA intensifying into a typhoon within the next 48 hours remains relatively low. However, there is a possibility that it may enter PAR within the next 24 to 48 hours, warranting continued observation.
4 PM Update:
Currently, the LPA’s influence is already being felt as its trough is expected to bring scattered rains to several areas, including Mindanao, the Bicol Region, Eastern Visayas, and Central Visayas. Residents in these regions should stay informed about the weather updates and be prepared for possible adverse conditions in the coming days.
