Senator Bato dela Rosa suggested on Thursday that a lie detector test should be administered to ascertain the veracity of the allegations made by two activists who claim they were abducted by the military, as well as the assertions of law enforcers that the activists voluntarily surrendered.
“Itong dalawang bata na ito na nagsasalita, isu-subject natin ito sa polygraph test, lie detector test ito at tsaka itong army at pulis na accordingly nagke-claim na sila ay nag surrender…dahil both sides are claiming to be saying the truth,” the senator told CNN Philippines’ The Source.
On Wednesday, Defense Secretary Gilbert Teodoro revealed that they are contemplating the possibility of filing perjury charges against activists Jonila Castro and Jhed Tamano. These activists have contradicted the authorities’ assertion that they willingly surrendered. The defense chief emphasized that there exists substantial evidence to challenge the credibility of the activists’ statements.
Reportedly, on September 2, two activists were allegedly abducted by a group of four individuals in Orion, Bataan. In a recent media briefing, Castro claimed that the military was responsible for the incident and asserted that they had been subjected to threats by authorities.
