Brig. Gen. Nicolas Torre III, the director of the Quezon City Police District (QCPD), tendered his resignation yesterday. His decision comes in the wake of mounting criticism regarding allegations of affording preferential treatment to the dismissed policeman, Wilfredo Gonzales.
According to the report, Torre expressed his intention to demonstrate his commitment to transparency. He emphasized that he is dedicated to revealing the truth behind the incident and is not involved in any form of cover-up.
“I really regret that deeply, I really apologize to the Filipino people for those actions,” Torre said.
Earlier, the QCPD lodged a complaint of alarm and sc*ndal against Gonzales for the incident that transpired along Quezon Avenue on August 8.
The Philippine National Police (PNP) announced its intentions to escalate legal actions against Gonzales, with additional criminal charges, including a grave threat complaint, being considered.
