The PCO announces the appointment of Carlito Galvez, Jr. as the new Department of National Defense (DND) Secretary. Currently, he’s the Presidential Adviser on Peace, Reconciliation, & Unity. Previously, Galvez was the IATF-EID Vaccine Czar.

PCO OIC Sec. Cheloy Garafil: The President has offered the position of DND Secretary to the Presidential Adviser on Peace, Reconciliation, and Unity Sec. Carlito Galvez Jr. has accepted.

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has accepted the resignation of DND Usec. officer in charge Jose Faustino Jr., Malacañang announces. Press Secretary OIC Cheloy Garafil adds that OPAPRU Sec. Carlito Galvez Jr. will replace Faustino.

Carlito Galvez Jr. is a Filipino military officer who served as the Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces of the Philippines from 2018 to 2021. He was previously the commander of the Western Mindanao Command and the Philippine Army.

Galvez has played a key role in the Philippine government’s efforts to combat terrorism and insurgency, particularly in the southern Philippines. He has also been involved in efforts to promote peace and development in the region.
