Fernando Martinez defeated Jerwin Ancajas in their rematch, Martinez dominated the fight, he was the aggressor for the entire battle, throwing different combinations, and working the head and body. The judges score the fight a UD 119-109 118-110 118-110.
Fernando Martinez retained his IBF junior bantamweight world title with a unanimous decision over Jerwin Ancajas on this Sunday at Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson, California. The fight was an entertaining one, but it was also very much a case of what if. In the end, Martinez did enough to win the battle and keep his belt.
Ancajas won two of the four rounds in the fight, and he pushed forward throughout the fight, landing big punches and even some hard body shots on Martinez. However, he could not put together enough combinations to get Martinez hurt or out of his comfort zone. Martinez was content to counterpunch when he needed to and eventually wore Ancajas down enough that there were no more big shots coming from him.
