Devastating news coming from Itaewon, South Korea. At least 151 people dead, and 82 others were injured when a mass of mostly young people celebrating Halloween in Seoul became trapped and crushed into a narrow alley near a nightlife district of Itaewon on Saturday night.
Updated sources indicate at least 151 people have been killed and at least 82 others are injured following a stampede and crush event at a Halloween party near 173-7 Itaewon-ro. The event occurred around the Hamilton Hotel and Itaewon Station. Emergency services remain on the scene. Continue to avoid the area.
South Korea’s President Yoon Suk-yeol declared a period of national mourning Sunday, after a deadly stampede at a packed Halloween event in the district of Itaewon in Seoul.
“This is a picture sent by the survivors of Itaewon, with bruises all over the body and difficulty breathing. She witnessed the suffocation of a girl shorter than her on the spot, which caused her not only physical pain but also psychological fear.”
