Trixie Cruz-Angeles, a lawyer, has been appointed to manage the Presidential Communications Operations Office by presumptive President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.
Cruz-Angeles has accepted the nomination to be Malacaang’s press secretary, according to Vic Rodriguez, Marcos’ chief of staff.
This marks Cruz-Angeles’ return to the PCOO, where she worked as a social media strategist from July 2017 to 2018 during President Rodrigo Duterte’s administration. As press secretary, she will be responsible for holding regular news briefings for members of the media. However, the team highlighted that because Marcos had already said that he would not select a spokesman, Cruz-Angeles’ job during press briefings would be limited.
“I am grateful for the opportunity I am given to take part in the administration of President Bongbong Marcos as his Press Secretary. It is with humility that I accept the nomination and assume the responsibility of running the affairs of the PCOO,” Cruz-Angeles stated.
Cruz-Angeles and two additional attorneys were challenged by their client after the latter paid P350,000 but failure to file an annulment request.
According to the STAR at the time, Angeles, who worked as a lawyer for Magdalo troops and expelled Iglesia Ni Cristo priest Lowell Menorca, confirmed that their legal business received the bribe but disputed that she was negligent in her responsibilities.
