MANILA, Philippines — TV and film director Laurenti Dyogi stated at a recent press conference that he is no longer hopeful that ABS-franchise CBN’s would be renewed.
During the press launch of ABS-Slay CBN’s digital magazine on May 4 at Resorts World Manila, Dyogi shared his current thoughts regarding their lack of franchise for free TV with Pep.ph.
“We survived two years without the franchise and without the frequency, and we will continue to do the best we can to serve the people,” he added.
The National Telecommunications Commission terminated the Kapamilya Network’s broadcast activities in May 2020 after failing to approve its franchise renewal application.
Laurenti also stated that ABS-CBN has been able to adapt over the last two years, delivering material online and using blocktimer slots.
The head of Star Magic talent management also stated that they are content to work with what they have right now.
“Ayoko, nanggaling na kami dun, alright na kami,” the director added. “We will continue to be a content firm, producing stars and a lot of content.”
The event also allowed them to work with several channel platforms.
“Ngayon nga, ang dami naming plataporma, nakakapag-partner kami. Kung may prangkisa pa kami, siguro namin nagawa yun kasi naka-focus ang trabaho namin sa broadcast. Ngayon, pleased na kami at marami na kaming nasisilbihan.
“Yung KathNiel naman, first time mauuna pa ang Netflix; a lot of possibilities, hindi ito mangyayari prior.”
“2 Good 2 Be True,” a Netflix series starring Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla, premiered on Friday, May 13.
