The Russian invasion of Ukraine threatens to cause famine in nations throughout the world, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy warned the Italian parliament on Tuesday, requesting more assistance to defeat the invaders.

Zelenskyy claimed via video connection in his last speech to Western lawmakers that his people were clinging to life while the Russian force destroyed Ukrainian cities and murdered civilians.

He stated that “For Russian troops, Ukraine is the gates of Europe, where they want to break in, but barbarism must not be allowed to pass,” he continued by stating that the war’s effects were already being felt in many areas around the world.

“The most dreadful thing will be the coming hunger for some nations.” Ukraine has long been one of the greatest food exporters, but how can we plant [crops] under Russian artillery strikes? “

The Ukraine war is affecting global grain production, edible oil supplies, and fertilizer exports, driving basic commodity prices rising and mirroring the crisis in power market.
