The Pastor in Davao, who was charged in US that faces sex trafficking, predicts that Mayor Sara Duterte and Ferdinand Marcos will. by a ”landslide”.
Former senator Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. and Davao Mayor Sara Duterte, the current frontrunners in the 2022 elections poll, have received formal endorsement from Apollo Quiboloy, a self-styled priest indicted in the United States on sex trafficking charges.
Quiboloy, the founder of the Davao-based Kingdom of Jesus Christ, The Name Above Every Name (KOJC), made the announcement on Tuesday, February 1, as the Davao mayor began a motorcycle journey from Mindanao to northern Luzon and back.
“Marami po nagtatanong – ano ang susuportahan ng Kingdom of Jesus Christ? Ngayon na ang tamang panahon na ipaabot ko sa inyo ang aking suporta. One hundred percent ako po ay sumusuporta sa Uniteam; kasama po ang aking pinakamamahal, pinalanggang Mayor sa Davao City nga karon modagan bilang vice president,” he said at the church’s grounds in Davao City.
(Many people have asked who the Kingdom of Jesus Christ will support; now is the time to announce my support: I am 100% with UniTeam; I am with my favorite mayor, Sara Duterte, who is running for vice president.)
His church claims to have over 4 million Filipino members and another 2 million internationally.
Marcos Jr. and Duterte, both sons of Philippine rulers, are branding their 2022 campaign as “UniTeam.” Marcos Jr. is the sole son of late dictator Ferdinand Marcos, while Duterte is the eldest daughter of President Rodrigo Duterte, Quiboloy’s close buddy. The coalition is made up of the Philippines’ largest and oldest political clans.
Quiboloy, who has been accused of sexual assault by former church members, predicted that Marcos Jr. and Duterte would win by a “landslide” – the same forecast he made in 2016 when he backed the older Duterte.
Quiboloy had projected the presidential triumph of longtime Duterte ally Senator Bong Go, who ultimately dropped his quest for the presidency, before forecasting a Marcos Jr.-Duterte landslide victory.
Quiboloy backed Lakas-CMD standard-bearer Gilbert “Gibo” Teodoro Jr. in the 2010 elections, stating that this was based on a “vision” involving then-US President Barack Obama. “He gave me a kind smile and shook my hand. When Quiboloy revealed his support for Teodoro over a decade ago, he stated, “I observed a sign over us that said ‘GibObama.”
In 2010, he also backed then-vice presidential candidate Mar Roxas, claiming to have two visions concerning the candidate that he didn’t reveal. Teodoro and Roxas were defeated by Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III and Jejomar Binay.
President Duterte’s spiritual adviser is accused of running a sex-trafficking ring in which girls and young women were threatened with “eternal damnation” and physical assault, along with other church officials. The allegations were publicized in November 2021, prompting Quiboloy to warn the globe later that month that unless the world stopped “persecuting, prosecuting, and maligning the designated son of God,” he was referring to himself, the epidemic would worsen.
Both Marcos Jr. and Duterte are at the top of Pulse Asia’s most recent preference surveys, which were issued in December 2021. Their alliance is also considered as advantageous due to their respective bailiwicks — Marcos is from Ilocos, while the Dutertes have a sizable following in Mindanao.
