According to a former Commission on Elections commissioner on Tuesday, it is time to announce the resolution on the disqualification petitions against presidential candidate Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.
Attorney Lucenito said that the allegations about Ferdinand Marcos Jr. are on its timeline based on the decision of the Comelec.
“Very important case ito. Dapat talaga pinag-aaralan, pero napapanahon na din na ilabas na ‘yung decision,” Atty. Tagle statedat the TeleRadyo Television channel.
The conflict between leaving Comelec Commissioner Rowena Guanzon and Commissioner Aimee Ferolino over disqualification cases, he believes, it is damaging the Comelec’s professionalism.
“Nagtataka nga ako bakit hindi rin nalalabas ‘yung desisyon. Matagal na rin eh… Jan. 17 pa ‘yung ibang desisyon, na-issue na. At bakit naman itong isa, wala pa? I don’t know if there is basis for the delay,” ani Tagle, na naging Comelec commissioner mula 2008 hanggang 2015.
He believes that Comelec chair Sheriff Abas will act to address the problem in the agency’s First Division.
Guanzon announced his voting in favour of disqualifying Marcos on Thursday, regardless of the fact that the division has yet to make a decision.
Guanzon noted in a 24-page judgment that Marcos was disqualified because he failed to submit income tax returns from 1982 to 1985, which may be termed moral turpitude. Guanzon reported that on January 17, the three First Division commissioners reviewed releasing the case’s decision. He said there was no delay since Guanzon, not the division, reportedly set the deadline for the decision.
