Hashtag #nagloloko became the number 1 trending topic on Twitter Philippines as of 7:34 PM on Thursday after Filipino netizens experienced glitches on Facebook Messenger. It was followed by #messengerdown in the second spot and “Facebook Messenger” in the fourth spot.

Facebook Messenger is an instant messenger application for mobile phones. An application for Windows and OS X is under development. Facebook Messenger allows users to send and receive text messages as well as photos and video.

Billions of users are unable to send messages and see a message indicating the app is “Waiting for the network.” Instagram’s chat service appears to be working incorrectly, with users unable to send messages.

According to Matt Navarra twitter posts, “Facebook, Messenger, and Instagram is down for lots of users in Europe, according to numerous reports online.”

Facebook company spokesperson told The Independent, “We are aware that some people are having trouble sending messages on Messenger, Instagram and Workplace Chat. We’re working to get things back to normal as quickly as possible.”
