Manila mayor Alfredo “Fred” Lim, who was also a former senator, died due to COVID-19 on Saturday.
He was a former director of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) and served as Manila mayor from 1992-1998 and 2007-2013. He also ran for president in 1998 but unfortunately lost to vice president Joseph Estrada.
Mayor Lim served as the secretary of the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) from 2000-2001 and a senator from 2004-2007.
Paul dela Cruz Almario posted on his Facebook page, bidding his farewell to Mayor Lim, “Lolo maraming, maraming salamat sa lahat ng bagay na binigay at naitulong mo sa akin para maging maganda at maayos ang buhay ko,” he wrote.
His post gained 1,700 comments, 3, 400 shares and 4,400 reactions.
