It’s been so many years since Matteo learned in singing last 2004. He enrolled himself to a voice lesson on University of the Philippines. His teacher was Kitchie Molina and he goes there twice a week.
Many have questioned if his girlfriend Sarah Geronimo is also teaching him in singing, and he answered NO. “Hindi naman, Siyempre, she gives her comments but ang lagi niyang sinasabi sa akin is to always follow my heart. Sometimes she check this, check that (lalo na in hitting high notes) yon lang,” he said.

He also shared that sometimes they are doing duet but in cellphone only and when he wa asked if what song, he smiled and said “ Secret”. Matteo also said that he hates it whenever people think that his using her girlfriend Sarah to gain some popularity. “Sometimes it’s irritating because the people don’t know what we go through. Even in show business before, I don’t stick to people to go up, I want to do it on my own.Even before I was with Sarah, I really wanted to do this (singing). That’s why hindi kami nagtatrabaho together kasi I really want it separate. We want it separate,” he added
