Highlighting how near Christmas is, Manila has been declared as prone in selling fake and uncertified Christmas lights. The Department of Trade and Industry conducted a raid on 10 stalls in Manila already.
According to the Director of DTI’S Fair Trade and Enforcement Bureau (FTEB) Danilo Enriquez, the authorities had confiscated Christmas lights found with fake or without Import Commodity Clearance (ICC) stickers. The stickers are very important to know if the items are fake or not.
They had confiscated more than 300 Christmas lights from each stall in Manila, with the total and average of 3,000 sets of undefined Christmas lights.
He also said that consumers should be very aware if the products are sold in low price than the normal rate. We should be very cautious.
However, the difference prize of fake and the original are so big. The item sold in undefined stores cost 60 pesos while in the malls it cost 300-400 pesos per pack.
