In September 2012, President Benigno Aquino III signed the RA 10175 or the Cybercrime Prevention Act which was subjected to Temporary Restraining Order due to issue of constitutionality before the Supreme Court.
After almost three years, on Wednesday, Department of Justice Secretary Leila De Lima and Department of Science and Technology Secretary Mario Montejo already finalized and signed the Implementing Rules and Regulations of Republic Act 10175 or the Cybercrime Prevention Act, which will take effect after 15 days of publication in newspapers of general circulation.
Department of Interior and Local Government and the Philippine National Police also joined hands to assure the public that the implementing rules is quickly carried out to eliminate cyber crimes in the country.
Justice Assistant Secretary Geronimo Sy, head of the DOJ’s Office for Cybercrime, stated that it will be prioritizing big cases involving large internet syndicates that could inflict danger especially on children and women.
