The People’s Republic of China will, for the first time, be hosting Fédération Internationale de Basketbal or FIBA Basketball World Cup in 2019 after winning the bid to host the flagship event over its only opponent, the Republic of the Philippines.
Upon submission and presentation of bids the People’s Republic of China won 14 votes over Philippines with 7 votes, during the Host Announcement Ceremony.
Chinese Ambassador Yao Ming expresses its excitement stating that this game will not only to promote friendship among participating countries but will also inspire youths to participate in sports like basketball.

FIBA President, Horacio Muratore, declared that there will be 140 teams competing in the 15th-month period to qualify to be among the 32 teams to play in China. 2019 FIBA Basketball World Cup will be played in the following eight cities in China, to wit: Beijing, Nanjing, Suzhou, Wuhan, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Foshan and Dongguan.
