Province of Albay Under “State Of Calamity” Because Of Bagyong Ruby & Threat Of Storm Surges

Province of Albay declares a “State of Calamity” because of Bagyong Ruby, even though they said super typhoon does not yet make a landfall its intensity can already be felt bringing strong winds capable of formulating slight storm surges.

AlbayThe said declaration was already approved by Sangguniang Panlalawigan as it conducts a special session this Saturday.

As of now the Albay is under storm warning signal no.3, which is expected to be the main path of the typhoon then taking its route to Northern and Eastern Samar.

According to Dr. Cedric Date head of Public Safety and Management Office, the main focus of the said declaration aside from being ready, the funds under calamity and recovery will be availed for the acquisition of additional relief goods and other necessities needed by the evacuee’s in the evacuation centers.

The Department of Trade & Industry (DTI) could also use the funds to control the prices in the market, in order to protect the consumers.

Storm-Surges-500x277Almost 74,000 families are ready evacuated for the preparation of the heavy rainfall and strong wind brought by Ruby.

Dr. Cedric added that they aim to evacuated almost 128,000 families in Albay especially those families residing near the coastal area, which is considered very dangerous site.

Tomorrow (Sunday) is the date of Ruby’s Landfall in the country and people are advise to do such precautionary measures to ensure safety of their families and properties as well.
