Confirm: Japan Prime Minister Packs $8.66 Billion Aid Package for Philippines

Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe announces a 1 trillion yen ($6.88 billion) Aid Package for the Philippines on his first state visit to the hometown of President Rody Duterte in Davao City.

The senior government official says that an aid package is one of Japan’s largest directed at a single country. This money will be directed toward infrastructure projects such as electric power systems for the country’s regional cities, building subways and also to help establish rehabilitation facilities to support Duterte’s war on drugs.

Japanese PM Shinzo Abe trust on Duterte’s leadership that’s why his choice Philippines for his first state visit of 2017. Last December, Duterte requested loans from the China-led Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank.
