Sandiganbayan Issued a 90 days Suspension against Senator JV Ejercito

Sandiganbayan – Senator JV Ejercito is suspended from the Senate issued by Sandiganbayan for 90 days against him and three San Juan City officials.  The court earlier charged him with graft and from alleged misuse of San Juan City funds in 2008 particularly the use of alleged anomalous high-powered firearms worth P2.1 million.

The senator had bailed last April 18, 2016, for the graft charges followed by his warrant of arrest for the charges against him.

The order was issued on Tuesday, August 23, 2016.  Under the anti-graft court’s Fifth Division, the accused Joseph Victor G. Ejercito is suspended from his position as Senator of the Republic of the Philippines for ninety (90) days from receipt of the resolution, unless a motion for reconsideration is filed.

Ejercito who was then the Mayor of San Juan City, insisted that it was his duty to approve the purchase of firearms because of the rising crime of the city.

The three other San Juan City’s officials are members of the City Government Bids and Awards committee: City Administrator Ranulfo Dacalos, City Attorney Romualdo de los Santos, and City Budget Officer Lorenza Ching.

The court added, that the office of the Senate President and the Office of the Mayor of San Juan will be given copies of its resolution for implementation.
