California Scientists Modifies Mosquitoes’ Immune System To Make Them Malaria-resistant

For Health Update! Some Californian scientist had known that mosquitoes who have such immune system was engineered seeing a so called advance gene editing technique that could be the answer in eliminating malaria.

They sad that mosquitoes can’t be affected with malaria parasites through passing the new gene along to the other generations. Through it’s offspring, the strain have the ability to transfer the decease to humans.

According to Anthony James of molecular biology and biochemistry and molecular genetics at the University of California Irvine, “This is a significant first step. We know the gene works. The mosquitoes we created are not the final brand, but we know this technology allows us to efficiently create large populations,”

It has also been reported in the said journal Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, “It worked. The genetically modified mosquitoes passed the new anti-malaria gene to 99.5 percent of their offspring,”

Be safe everyone!
